I have been interested in learning about the Spanish Civil War ever since I first saw Guernica by Pablo Picasso. This painting embodied the horror of war. The town of Guernica was essentially obliterated by German air-strikes as Hitler was supporting Francisco Franco, a fellow fascist in the 1930s. The complexities of the Civil War were beyond fascists trying to overthrow the monarchy. Other forces involved were the Liberals and Communists. Ultimately Franco was victorious and remained neutral during World War II.
With this horror from the past we now are watching events in Syria unfolding and the situation in Gaza and Lebanon. Apparently, some things never change.

Unfortunately, Grover embodies what is a major problem with the American health care system – it is ridiculously expensive. Too many people cannot afford health care. That’s is why life expectancy in the United States is blow Canada, Japan and most other first world nations.

Unfortunately, the incoming administration will just make things worse, rather than bringing the United States into a better future.
Until next time…
