Thanksgiving, 2024

The past couple of days have been wonderful and packed full of people and places. We spent two days in Petosky with Mike and Deb, also getting to see Susan and Isaac. Great meals and games.

We spent a morning in downtown Petosky where we went to the watch shop, kitchen store, book store and Palete Café where we had a delightful lunch.

Leaving Petosky we went to Gaylord for some shopping for dinner and then stopped in Gaylord for a late breakfast.

Now, back in Ann Arbor we’re getting ready to start getting dinner started after the Detroit Lions football game. On paper they should easily beat the Chicago Bears, but it’s a long-time rivalry dating back to 1934 when the Bears beat the Lions.

So for now I’m thinking about books.

This past spring we met a nice couple from Great Britain who have relocated to Ottawa, Ontario. Over a few days we talked often about birds and where to find them. Then on their last day at Whitefish Point we had them over for lunch. We said thet we were having whitefish chowder and bread, which they said sounded great.

We sat around talking and laughing for a while. Then as they were leaving they gave us a book that the husband had written. It is in the queue for me to read. Susan read it this summer.

This fall/late summer I got a message from a dear friend Bonnie that she had a book to send to me. What a delightful book. The writing is fun and the illustrations are great. It makes me want to do both.

More tomorrow…
