Dark Day Book Reviews

I got this book for free and it looked interesting. I assumed that it was fiction, but eh author wrote it as actual history. This actually made me laugh. There is essentially nothing in the book that is factual even though the author gives abundant citations.

The book covers Chinese explorations of the Pacific Ocean including the discovery of Australia (which never happened) and the exploration of North, Central and South America (which never happened, although one cannot eliminate trips to North America). Then the author discusses the Chinese fleet that circumnavigated Africa and explored the Amazon, Caribbean and eastern North America, including colonies along the coast.

A point of interest was the interaction of the Chinese with Mayan culture in the early 1400s. That’s interesting since the height of Mayan culture ended hundreds of years earlier. I thought that he might have confused the Maya with the Aztecs. But not, he mentions their trekking to Palenque. Oh well.

If you decide to read the book do so considering it fiction, not fact.

I was reading this book in January, 2020 so when the Insurrection occurred it became more relevant. Each chapter relates to earlier fascist events then correlates them to issues in the USA in the 2000s. This is well worth a read, especially considering the election results from yesterday.

More, less depressing posts in the near future.
