Good morning world, it’s been a while since I have written anything. That week we went to Madison, Wisconsin for Susan’s 50th class reunion. It was a lot of fun, both with nature and friends. But other things were happening in the world.

There’s a new monkeypox (mpox) epidemic in The democratic Republic of Congo and it has spread to nearby African countries. So far over 1500 people have tested positive for the virus and around 500 have died, including many children.
The monkeypox virus spread via bodily fluids. So, in the 2022 outbreak most cases were limited to gay and transgender men. This outbreak isn’t.
A few days ago a case was detected in Sweden. Will this become a pandemic? Who knows.
In the U.S. there has been a rise in cases of parvovirus which is more of a threat to pregnant women and their fetuses. Another viral outbreak to keep an eye on.
Closer to home COVID is increasing. When we got home from Wisconsin Susan wasn’t feeling well and was running a fever. So I went to the local library where they are still giving away COVID-test kits.

I renewed my library card, thus renewing my citizenship in the land of knowledge.
So, on Tuesday Susan tested positive for COVID. By Wednesday I was feeling worse than her. I was feverish and coughing. Well, Susan is such a sharing person. I tested positive on Thursday, and started taking paxlovid on Friday and well as a cough supressent.
We’ve managed to get out for “short” walks in the neighborhood. But I’m looking forward to longer walks.
More later…
