The view of Sault Ste. Marie from Whitefish Point. There are rain storms and the wind is bringing it towards us.

An early Golden Eagle. Just as migration started the rain arrived. For the next five hours it would rain for 15-20 minutes then clear. During each period without rain a few migrants appeared. Then it cleared and the sky dripped hawks on us. There were hundred of Red-tailed Hawks, as well as Rough-legged Hawks, Red-shouldered Hawks, Sharp-shinned Hawks. There were good numbers of both species of eagle and some Northern Harriers. The last to appear were the Turkey Vultures. There was even a Cooper’s Hawk.

Blackbirds landing in a tree close to us. This flock included Red-winged and Rusty Blackbirds, Brown-headed Cowbirds and Common Grackles. Talk about diverse.

An adult Red-shouldered Hawk that soared well about a Red-tailed Hawk.

And an honorary raptor – a pair of Northern Ravens.
More later, as tomorrow is looking like it could be a spectacular day for migration.
