Day-2, Kentucky to North Carolina

We left the North Star Inn before the cafe opened because we had a lot of miles to cover and a stop to make along the way.

Traveling through the mountain is always interesting.

The first rest area in Tennessee is a favorite of ours because of the nature trail and interesting plants and sometimes birds. This is an ebony spleenwort that was not far for the next plant.

These are the leaves of cranefly orchids. We were excited to find these there four years ago and have been stopping to look for them even years since. Overhead were our first Myrtle Warblers of the years.

We got to Weaverville, North Carolina and went our for a late lunch with Mark and Adrienne to a place that has amazing tacos, soups and more.

Mark is a former professional entomologist and now an avid photographer. I like this philosophy.

More tomorrow when we head off to South Carolina
