McMichael Gallery – Group of Seven

One of the reasons we went to the McMichael Gallery was to see the paintings by members of “the Group of Seven.” There was one gallery with many by the members. These are but a few. After each painting there is a brief description of the painting.

I was amazed at how the artist caught the nature of the leaves, waters cascading over the moss-covered rocks and the subtle shades of the more distant lichen-covered rocks.

While the title of the painting is The Pool, I was more impressed by the pines, spruces, firs and tamaracks that have turned yellow in the late fall.

What an amazing sky. This is what the Upper Peninsula of Michigan looks like looking west near the Tahquamenon River.

This is just a small sample of the paintings. I highly recommend visiting McMichael and seeing whatever is on display by the Group of Seven.

Tomorrow Tom Thomson.
