Whitefish Point, day-2

A beautiful sunrise. The temperature was 45F, and the wind chill was 37-38F. So it was pretty cool outside.

We had the owl banders over for dinner, which it was for them. They had a good night banding Saw-whet Owls, two Boreal Owls and a Long-eared Owl. It was fun talking to them and hearing about their lives.

Afterwords I sat outside watching migrants. There were a lot of Purple Finches, but not much else. We walked to the point where we delivered a thermos of hot soup to the waterfowl counter before heading home.

Since the winds were not favorable for much happening we stayed at the cabin and watched the Michigan – Illinois football game, which was the right decision.

Since last evening we talked to a friend, Pat who I was in Mexico with in August, talked to our friend Linda and talked to Lyle who moth with in Ann Arbor. SO for a “slow” day it was full of thing to do. And – unlike Ann Arbor is was bright and sunny, as it will be for the next few days.

More later…
