Monday afternoon humor

Yep, it’s that time of year again. I’ve noticed the leaflets from our neighbors black locust strewn along the block. Pretty soon the maples and oaks will be adding in. Yes, it’s fall!

Do not use education in the face of a threat – you will always lose.

It’s a bird feeder! Actually this reminds me of the situation in Spain in the 1980s and 90s. European vultures were being poisoned by farmers as they were accusing them of killing farm animals. The government then set up Vulture Restaurants. These were fenced in areas of about 100 x 100 meters. Farmers would bring dead livestock into the areas where vultures congregated. It was a win for everybody. Animals still died but vultures were no longer blames. Threatened vultures were protected, at least locally. And finally, eco-turism thrived with this system.

While Spain played a game of chess with protecting vultures, some chess matches remain rather enigmatic. Bizarro nailed it with this one.

But watch out when dating a chess piece, make sure that you don’t get rooked.

And finally – this just made me laugh. It’s not something that I’d ever do, but it is humorous.

More later…
