Going for a walk as the sun was setting meant that we would get back to the cabin in the dark. That meant that we could enjoy the waxing Moon. But the point of going out as the sun was setting was to see what the UV-flashlight would detect in the shrubs. We were not disappointed.

Crab spiders have a bluish-white fluorescence seen on the left. The same spider on the right that I photographed using a flash.

A yet-to-be identified caterpillar that looked a lot like an alder catkin. It glower bluish-green and ultimately was annoyed with us.

A large bluish-green glow keyed us in to a large sphinx moth caterpillar. I have an idea of what this is, but am still working on it.

Getting back to the cabin well after dark rewarded us with a special find, not at the sheets that were set up, but at the garage door. This is a six-plumed moth.
More tomorrow…
