
Don and I went to Lake Erie Metropark yesterday to look at migrating hawks. As is typical for this site the hawks were extremely high. This is a dozen Broad-winged Hawks. After a few hours at the park we decided to head down to the headquarters of Pointe Mouillee where we were hoping to see more birds. The north-west winds were pushing the birds to the south of Erie Metropark.

We weren’t disappointed, at least for a short time. The Broad-winged Hawks came in one large batch.

There were about 500 birds that passed in a few minutes. We also saw a smattering of other hawks and Bald eagles.
