A 100th birthday celebration and more

My brother Mark and I went to the celebration of Auntie Carmela turning 100. What a wonderful gathering of family. My Italian family have known the Marino and Del Duca families since the 1600s! They all came from the town of Peschici, Italy.

Camela arrive in 1953 with her children Vince and Teresa.

Here we are together.

Here I am with Vince and Teresa.

Here is Teresa’s family, along with Peter who I hadn’t seen in perhaps ten years.

Here are the rest of Carmela’s children – Claudio, Irene and Lea.

This is Lea and Mario who are FaceBook friends and who I finally have the pleasure of meeting in person.

The view of Detroit as we headed back to Ann Arbor for another celebration.

On September 15 Steve and Chellie will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. However, since the first three Saturdays in September are home football games for the University of Michigan we celebrated early! I went to high school with Steve and we both met Chellie on the same day at Wayne State University in 1970/1, if my memory serves me well.

Back to Mexico tomorrow.
