A busy few days

In the past four days we managed to set aside some time for dinner at El Harissa, a wonderful little North African market and restaurant that’s only a 15 minute walk from home.

Now that the garlic has been harvested (more on that later), it’s time to plant pole beans.

Some of the herbs have started to flower – mint (purple) and dill (yellow) are getting ready for making some seeds. Both of there herbs are essentially weeds in the raised beds and paths. But they are weeds that we enjoy tremendously.

We spent Sunday afternoon going out to see a movie. I can’t remember the last one that we saw in a theater. But Indiana Jones and the dial of destiny was a real throwback to the original Indiana Jones movie. Fun, exciting, surprising and thoroughly enjoyable.

Today was time to get the garlic ready to head into the cool basement. The process of cutting off the roots and stems takes a while.

When all was done, there were 170 heads (some the size of tennis balls) that weighted a total of 12 pounds. Not bad for our little urban garden.

More tomorrow…
