We spent yesterday morning on Embury Road where we had quite a few colorful dragonflies and butterflies. This is an Eastern Pondhawk.

Widowed skimmer and Spangled skimmer were both quite common.

Whitetails were also common.

But I only found two Halloween pennants.

Butterflies were abundant, but less colorful than the dragonflies. Delaware skipper on the left, Mulberry wing on the right.

As the morning warmed the Baltimores became more numerous. But the find of the day was still to happen.

I managed to find two Dion skippers, which was exciting. It’s been close to 20 years since I’ve seen one, and had never photographed one.
More later…
