Natalie Lake warblers

Yesterday we spent the day at Natalie Lake, which is a flooding of the Tahquamenon River due to the Dollarville Dam. The birds were amazing. Lots of warblers – with Golden-winged Warbler being the highlight.

At a nearby large pond bordering a huge wetland there is a large beaver lodge. While we didn’t see the beavers it’s still nice knowing that they are there.

This might be the best photo of a Yellow Warbler that I have ever taken. I wish that the Golden-wings were as close as this bird. But the best sighting of the day wasn’t a bird.

I was walking down the road and spotted this black bear about 75 yards ahead of me. When he saw me a slowly ambled off into the bog. As I was about a half mile ahead of everybody else I could get them to see it.

More tomorrow…
