South winds brought some great migrants

Trying to get photos of the large numbers of Evening Grosbeaks passing by is really challenging. I had close to 300 fly by the cabin in the morning.

Large numbers of Broad-winged Hawks are still around, but the numbers are much lower than in the past few days.

The Sharp-shinned Hawks are taking advantage of the large number (over 4,000) of Blue Jays.

Alison and Skye at the point. Now on to the rarities.

There were at least 8 Eurasian Tree Sparrows at the feeders at W.P.B.O. Additionally there was a Blue Grosbeak and several Boreal Chickadees. Nearby towards the waterfowl counter there was a Summer Tanager and Bell’s Vireo. All-in-all quite a day for the people who showed up.

More tomorrow…
