
Well, it was bound to happen, but Blue Jays arrived en masse today. While one or two can be rather attractive, when they arrive by the 100s or 1000s they can be serious pests.

Here are a few of the 100s at or below our feeders.


At the same time the jays arrived there was also a tremendous influx of Evening Grosbeaks. Between the jays and grosbeaks our feeders were emptied in one day.

Fortunately, there was still enough seed for this Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

There were probably a few fewer Broad-winged Hawks today, but they were still here in the 1000s.

And I still never tire of these hawks.

A large number of Bald Eagles were around today. But they weren’t the highlight.


Golden Eagles took over as the daily star. These two were among the five that were seen simultaneously.
