And now it’s April

What a beautiful day to start April, warm and sunny. Hardly, let’s just call that an April Fools joke. Thunderstorms, hail, rain and snow. But we did manage to start that day with a fun walk at Dexter Huron Metropark.

A nice little moss with a lot of fruiting bodies was a real sign of spring. Then again, so were the insects.

The “fly” on the left is probably a fungus gnat. The pair in the middle that were caught in the act, so to speak are stoneflies, as is the larger on on the right. But these weren’t what we were looking for.

The Harbinger-of-spring, a wonderful small flowering plant were in their full glory barely visible above the old leaves along a path. Now, for me it’s officially spring!
