El Jalisco is a fantastic restaurant at exit 155 (Owenton/Williamstown) just off of I-75 in Kentucky. We found this place 8-10 years ago and immediately fell in love with the food here.
As you enter the restaurant there is an almost life-sized Aztec jaguar knight, obviously making it a safe place to eat.
And – here’s dinner (yesterday and left-overs tonight). Susan had chilis rellenos. I had one tamale and a “huge” bowl of sopa Azteca, aka tortilla soup. The food here is just like I would expect in central Mexico. Not only is the food excellent, but it is a great buy. My soup had a lot of chicken in it and perhaps the equivalent of 2-3 avocados, as well as tomatoes, potatoes, squash, onions, carrots and lots of cilantro.
So, basically if you are traveling through Kentucky on I-75 stop here and eat!
