Levy County, Florida

Our day started at Fort Island Gulf Beach.

Finally, a lot of Black Skimmers.

Susan wandered down the boardwalk and found a Great Horned Owl.

A female Boat-tailed Grackle.

Then we went over to Goethe National Forest where we spent the rest of the morning. This Swollen bladderwort was abundant.

Carolina Satyrs were the most common butterflies that we saw.

Swamp leatherflower was a nice plant to find.

Other butterflies included Queens and Red-banded hairstreaks.

Safron-winged grasshoppers were along the trail in the afternoon.

Cyprus clubtail was quite common in the afternoon.

This Viceroy must have emerged today.

Hymenoptera were quite common in the afternoon hunting along the trail.

More tomorrow…
