We crossed into Tennessee on I-75 on a foggy, rainy morning. It wasn’t especially good for looking for plants. But heck, we need to get out of the car and walk a little. This rest area has some great plants, but not an especially good day to find them, as our glasses, footwear and coats were quite wet.

But nothing slows down lichens. Actually, sometimes damp, or in this case wet days can be excellent for photographing them.

Making our way through Tennessee towards North Carolina the rain never stopped, with the exception of two very brief breaks.

OK, I’m not sure if a tunnel counts as a break from the rain, but it was the only time we weren’t driving in rain.
Tomorrow – North Carolina to South Carolina.
