Charles Darwin

Charles Darwin was born on February 12 1809. He collected finch specimens in the 1830s on the Galapagos Islands. They were one of the critical species involved with his describing the process of evolution. The finches were first called Darwin’s finches in 1936 by Percy Lowe.

One of the highlights of my teaching career at Eastern Michigan University was getting to teach Evolution. Teaching evolution at the same time as Genetics was perhaps my favorite semesters of teaching.

Sunset last night got me to thinking about change, thus evolution. Sunset and sunrise times are changing every day as the days are getting longer.

Our last sunrise at the cabin as we are preparing to head south to Ann Arbor. Then in a while south to the Carolinas, Florida and Alabama.

More later…
