Wrapping up the week, shopping, dinner and the pandemic

We went out to ship a package to Alexis and the kids and while Susan was doing that I walk around Westgate shopping center running other errands.

We put up our Christmas tree. The ceramic tree with the bird lights in the center of the photo is what we got one winter when we went to pick up Alexis at the University of Minnesota. She had a serious case of mono and we went to bring her home. On the way we stopped late at night to get dinner around the Minnesota/Wisconsin border and got this tree. So basically we’ve had it for some 20 years. The Snoopy decorations were added over the years as I found them.

We’ve been eating a lot of rather eclectic dinners recently. The other night we had giardiniera, olives, kimchi, butternut squash soup, pita with humus, toum ( a garlic sauce), pickled red onions, pickles and lettuce on pita. A delightful, inexpensive and healthy meal.

And finally the pandemic – it’s still here. Currently there are two new B1-variants that are dominating disease cases in the US. The number of cases are rising as is the number of hospitalizations and deaths. So stay safe out there.

More tomorrow…
