Snow storm at Whitefish Point

Yesterday we got a bit of snow at Whitefish Point. While in the course of the day we only got 6-7″ of snow, for about an hour it was quite intense. That was sadly when we decided to go to Paradise (11 miles away) to mail some letters and stop at the Food Mart. Well, that trip which normally would take 30 minutes, took well over an hour.

I took this photo of the snow plow the day before the storm as it was sanding the curves in the road. Snow plows are our friends.

The day before the storm we had 6-7 Evening Grosbeaks at our feeders, the first of the Fall for us.

The male Red-bellied Woodpecker at the feeder on the deck. With a female nearby.

We’re also getting red squirrels at the feeders, as well as red-backed voles, which are incredibly difficult to photograph.

And finally, a male Hairy Woodpecker at the feeder.

More tomorrow, when we’ll start the week with some humor.
