It’s been a busy week. I haven’t had a lot of time to sit down and write. So, it’s time to get caught up.

Don’t forget to set your clocks back to night to the real time. And don’t forget to vote on Tuesday to prevent setting your life back 40 years.

Halloween was a festive occasion in our neighborhood. There were lots of home lit up with lots of decorations and a tremendous number of kids out.

We have a neighbor that goes all out with decorations and much more. He has his Tesla set to play Halloween music and the lights change and flash to the music. And – he has a “flame thrower” set up. It is attached to a propane tank so that when he (or me on one occasion) his a button a burst of propane causes a flame to shoot up. It’s quite safe and very entertaining. Kids and adults all like it.

And what follows Halloween? El dia de los muertos! What an amazing celebration of life, death, history and family. To fully experience it you have to be in southern Mexico, what a wild time. Of all places to be, I was at the Mayan ruins of Palenque one year for this.

An important aspect of the celebration are monarch butterflies. They are a symbol of return and rebirth. These butterflies migrate and overwinter in the highlands of central Mexico. In the spring they leave by the millions heading north and are not seen until the following fall. Now, on to some humor.

Ah yes, leaf piles. So tempting, which is why we deal with them quickly.

Birds are a good indicator of climate change. It seems that every year we are seeing birds here later and later in the year.

The only thing that Snoopy left out was coffee!
