Inktober – batch four

Before getting to some drawings, there are two photos from the web. This is one of Olympia in Detroit. I had the pleasure of seeing many Detroit Red Wings games there. I saw one professional lacrosse game there when Detroit had a team. Finally I went to several concerts there including seeing Blind Faith, (with Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood and Ginger Baker) and Led Zepplin. What memories.

The Pillars of Creation as photographed by the Hubble Telescope (on the left) and the Webb Telescope (on the right). Now, now to a few sketches.

The Inktober prompt from October 13th was “kind.” At first I thought of trying to illustrate an emotion, which can be difficult, if not impossible. Then I thought about “which king?” and everything became clearer. This was a sketch of a group of maple leafs that I collected from the neighborhood. I hadn’t paid this much attention to maple leafs since the 1990s when I got to sit in on the Woody Plants course at UM.

The prompt on the 14th was “empty.” Another hard one to interpret. Then I saw an empty bottle (not this one) and the idea struck me – an empty tequila bottle! This is the result. Milagro, by the way is an excellent tequila for the price. And – I can find it locally quite easily.

The prompt on the 15th was “armadillo.” No interpretation necessary. We see them every winter when we visit the south.

The prompt for the 16th was “fowl.” The result was this Red Junglefowl. These now breed throughout Florida and were the ancestors of the modern chicken.

That’s all for today, more tomorrow.
