Poor Woodstock, he did such a nice job imitating a falling leaf. That’s important in the Fall.

In June, 1997 a while before I started teaching at Eastern Michigan University, my friend Mark (the Collections Manager in the Insect Division) and I made a trip to Florida. We were attending the annual meeting of the Dragonfly Society of America. It was a great meeting. We did a lot of collecting in Florida, which was tremendous fun. The we collected insects on out trip home. Mark wanted to stop at Beaver Lick and Big Bone Lick, both in Kentucky (as I remember) to collecting insect specimens from those two sites. Yep, the Insect Division at the University of Michigan now has labeled specimens from those two sites. Silly fun in the 90s.

Yesterday Albert Puljos became the fourth (and third legitimate) player to hit 700 home runs.

Some of the last tomatoes on the table by a window. Some tomatoes fell from their vines and will sit and ripen for the next week. And with the temperatures falling (it is Fall) we’ll probably be picking most of the remaining vegetables (tomatoes, green beans and hot peppers).
