The current status of the ground invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

The “actual” events happening currently. A forced election, that is most likely rigged. An excuse for annexing south eastern Ukraine, and the probable conscription of Ukrainians into the Russian army with hopes that they will fight against their own country. As the invasion is now in the seventh month there is still hope that Ukrainian forces can drive Russian forces out, but every move damages more Ukrainian infrastructure. Hopefully, with the help of western aid this will end soon.

One of Susan’s favorite bumper stickers. She has this in her home office and she also has a coffee cup with it. Celebrate like the moose!

‘Tis the season, well almost. Halloween decorations are starting to appear with greater frequency every day.

Starting tonight, get out at sunset and scan the sky to the east for the bright “star,” Jupiter. I think that I’ll be out tonight with our spotting scope looking for it from Ann Arbor. Hopefully, it will be clear.
More tomorrow…
As to Russia holding a vote to OK its annexation of eastern Ukraine, why doesn’t Michigan hold a vote among northwestern Ohioans to see if they want to become part of Michigan, as they would have been initially, if the federal gov’t hadn’t shifted the border northward? Of course, then we might have to hold a vote in the UP, which should have been Wisconsin, so we might lose in the deal.
My favorite bumper sticker, which has been in my office for decades, reads:
AVENGE YOURSELF
Live long enough to be a problem to your children.
I think I’ve gotten there now, at my ripe old age.

Yes, getting the U.P for the stretch of Ohio that includes Toledo was one of the best land swaps in history, but it did avoid a military conflict between Michigan and Ohio. I am also old enough to be more of a concern for my daughter, who lives half a continent away. The bigger issue for me is keeping an eye on my aunt who is 15 years older than me. Ah, all the issues with life. I guess that’s what make it enjoyable.
