Interestingly, I have not seen a Cicada killer this year. I miss having them along our driveway.
Exactly eleven years ago I found this female Chinese mantis at Point Pelee in Ontario.
I’ve never been bitten by a mantis, but the spines along the raptorial forelegs can really hurt when then dig into you. So, I always handle them carefully.
She did her best to scare me off.
But her threats didn’t work. I caught her to show friends.
