Today it was reported that Jill Biden tested positive for Covid-19 (caused by SARS-CoV-2). This is weeks after the President tested positive, and is now testing negative. And the pandemic continues.
The number of new cases in the U.S. seem to be decreasing weekly, as do deaths. However, both remain quite high. So, continue to use a face mask (KN-95) when appropriate. While shopping at Kroger (or elsewhere for that matter, but we spend the greatest amount of time at Kroger) we wear masks, as do about half of the other shoppers. The vast majority of workers are now maskless.
The most recent CDC reports on monkeypox show increased numbers on a global basis.
The number of cases in the U.S. is still increasing. These data are from two days ago. Now to an emerging infections disease.
The CDC and the European CDC, presumably China agencies as well are keeping track of Langya henipavirus a virus that has jumped from animals to humans in China. Fortunately, this virus does not appear to be as virulent as SARS-CoV-2. But all of the agencies are keeping track of what is happening.
