The blue flag are now in bloom between the cabin and the point.

But when walking to the point it’s hard to miss all of the shrubs and small trees with leaves chewed on by some insect.

The culprit is a small green weevil, Polydrusus formosus. Not only did we find many individuals, but also numerous mating pairs.

At the cabin this morning we had a few moths, notably Northern apple sphinx.

Luna moths and

Columbia moth, which is large in wing-span than the luna. But not everything is fun and games, sometimes there is work to do.

We’ve been slowly working our way through the pile of wood that was delivered before we arrived. Some goes into the wood shed, some get split into smaller pieces or kindling going into the garage.

The wood shed that we built a few years ago, waiting to be refilled.

The bins in the garage with only the far kindling rack needing more wood. I guess I’ll be splitting kindling for the next few days. Of course only after we spend some time exploring sites with orchids.
More on that later…
