A hot day in Allegan State Game Area

We spent the first 2-3 hours of the day today exploring Swan Creek in Allegan County. Nice birds, not our target bird, but you can’t always get what you want. we did, however see a nice variety of fungi and insects to go along with the birds. This is one of the coral fungi, not quite sure of which one at this point.

A log cover with lichens and two species of slime molds. This is member of the genus Hemitrichia.

Growing above the Hemitrichia was one that could be identified.

The dark one is a Chocolate tube slime mold (Steminitis splendens).

And a final white slime mold that I am still working on identifying.

And finally a Green immigrant leaf beetle (Polydrusus formosus), a cute little weevil.

More later…
