Yeah, this is me. Trying to remember things without the information right in front of me has it’s limits – sigh.

The right individual is a Gold-backed snipe fly. The one on the left is a robber fly that is a mimic of other flies.

Fringed polygala is carpeting forest floors in the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan right now. While it’s not an orchid it sure is pretty.

We found a bunch of “Fairy slippers,” Calypso bulbosa again today. Finding them in small groups is especially nice.

This beauty was one of our targets today – Yellow Ladies-slippers. And we were not disappointed.

We found 100s of these beauties. Many times they were in small clumps.

Susan photographing Striped coralroot, another target for the day.

Here’s my photo of the orchid she was photographing.

Now on to some insects, specifically dragonflies. These are Hudsonian whitefaces, Leucorrhina hudsonica.

And here are a couple of Dusky clubtails, Gomphus spicatus.
So ends todays adventure with insects and orchids. More tomorrow…
