Animal diversity web

When I was working in the Insect Division at The University of Michigan Museum I contributed a number of photos to this project – and they’re still there. The originals are slides. The photos I am using today are scans that I pulled off the website. I had better find the original slides and scan there for better quality.

A Common Black Hawk photographed at Tecolutla, a coastal village in the state of Veracruz, Mexico.

Ferruginous Pygmy Owl photographed at the ruins at Uxmal in the Yucatan, Mexico.

Gray Hawk photographed at Coba, in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico where they are quite common.

Laughing Falcon photographed at Coba, Mexico.

One of the many hundreds of thousands Swainson’s Hawks seen at Tecolutla, Mexico.

Migrating Swallow-tailed Kites at Tecolutla, Mexico.

White-tailed Kites (Black-shouldered Kites) photographed near Palenque, Chiapas, Mexico.

So, there are a few raptors seen in Mexico in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

More tomorrow…
