Days filled with hawks

The past two days have been absolutely wonderful as the sky always had hawks to watch. This morning the first hawks were shortly after 6AM and as of 6PM there are still a few passing.

Sharp-shinned Hawks have dominated the numbers with over 1600 passing by in the last two days.

The earliest Broad-winged Hawks were often low and easy to see. There were never a lot, but enough to keep everybody happy. There were many more Rough-legged Hawks, Red-tailed Hawks, Northern Harriers and Bald Eagles.

The treat today was a Swainson’s Hawk, the second of the season. These photos are from past years, as today I was still just enjoying the birds fly.
