I’ll be at the cabin, perched in the “raptor roost” three-stories up from the sand watching birds.

As soon as possible I’ll walk the nearby roads and woods searching for perched Long-eared Owls. Then in the evening we’ll sit in the roost and watch as they take to flight headed to Ontario.

Sharp-shinned Hawks will be everywhere, in the sky, trees and at feeders.

Bald Eagles are abundant migrants. I’ve already seen perhaps a dozen or more (my notes are at the cabin).

Northern Harriers, like this male will be most numerous in the early morning and early evening.

Golden Eagles will trickle by, peaking at a few a day. And who knows what else will appear.
My cameras are packed. Plant references, books to red and more are all packed for the morning trip. Oh yes, the moth lights are ready.
More later…
