
Our feeders at Whitefish Point have been quite active with the majority of visitors being Common Redpolls. Trying to take “good” photos through the glass is always a challenge. The above made redpoll was such a challenge as the bird was almost too close and I was shooting at an angle through the glass door.

Another male was a better choice as it was a bit further away and at a feeder that was about four feet off of the deck.

Just as I was about to photograph one of the 3-4 Hoary Redpolls visiting us, a male Common Redpoll chased it away.



But later in the morning, another Hoary Redpoll posed nicely (before being chased off by a Common Redpoll). What I liked about taking multiple shots of this bird was being able to see the white under-tail and near lack of any streaks in the breast and flanks.
So ends the redpoll extravaganza.
