
I pulled God’ Playground, A History of Poland, Part II down from a bookshelf to put into perspective what was happening in Ukraine today. Somehow the parallels between the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the German invasion of Poland are difficult to miss. Let’s hope that the outcome of this invasion is better than the invasion of 1939. If you are interested in global history this two volume work is an excellent read.

The global situation with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and Covid infections for the last week is a combination of elation and depression. The number of deaths in the US is still disturbingly high, even with the number of new infections decreasing. This is becoming a pandemic of the unvaccinated with regards to serious disease and death. Hopefully we will reach a point where this coronavirus becomes the equivalent of a bad cold.

Sunday was extremely windy in Ann Arbor, I thought that this cartoon was particularly appropriate, especially since it was published on Sunday,

And finally, when we have been out walking over the past ten or more years I’ve asked Susan the name of a person and she would respond with that’s “Luke” and his mom, etc. Oh well, at least I got to know the dogs names.
