Starting the day with a funny but appropriate cartoon. Having had kidney stones I appreciatre “drinking my troubles away with water.”

First Common Grackles at our feeders.

We spent most of the late morning at Ford Lake looking for waterfowl.

The local flock of Greater White-fronted Geese were rather obvious.

There were a few Cackling Geese scattered among the much larger Canada Geese.

There were two Snow Geese on the ice, while in the water there were a lot of Ring-necked Ducks, scattered Greater Scaup. We also found Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Gadwall, American Wigeon, Northern Pintail and (of course) Mallards.

A pleasant surprise was finding two Pied-billed Grebes.

Another surprise was finding a Honeylocust, which screams “DOn’t touch me!”

In the later afternoon we headed to downtown Ann Arbor to meets friends to celebrate a 40th birthday.

Dinner and drinks at Grizzly Peak.
More tomorrow…
