Looking for birds and a night filled with moths

We were out looking for birds the other day and came to this sugarberry and palm that were side-by-side. That in itself was not very interesting. But the birds that were there were.

There were two Loggerhead Shrikes in the sugarbush. The male was singing and the female arrived with nesting material.

A better photo of the male.

It was fun seeing and hearing Eastern Meadowlarks in most of the hedgerows.

Later in the day, after dinner Susan set up the lights at Tom and Kathi’s in Dunnellon. It turned into a fun evening. Here are a few of the moths that we found.

There were 30-40 different moths at the sheet, almost all unidentified at this point.

More on identifications in the future.
