After the rain ender this morning we visited with friends Patsy and Ken. We had a wonderful walk on the beach where we saw all of the typical gulls, terns and sandpipers.

we were able to watch several Northern Gannets over the ocean.

Even the Laughing Gulls were tired of the rain. Many of the gulls and terns had their bills tucked under their wings, as if to keep warm.

Even a Black Skimmer (and Ring-billed Gull) seemed to be resting.

A Sandwich Tern looked up long enough for a photo.

This adult Herring Gull was in the surf with Sanderlings and Willets.
Then we were distracted by a distant Northern Right Whale that we watched for 10-15 minutes. Sorry no photos, it was too far away and under water most of the time.

Finally an up-close and personal Red Knot. Which long with the gannet were the birds of the day.
More tomorrow, which will be our last full day at New Smyrna Beach.
