Jacco, another friend from Ann Arbor came to visit Don and Loree for the day. Jacco, Don and I spent the morning driving the beach looking for bird. There were a lot of gulls and terns, like the Royal Tern, on the beach. But we had a special target to get for Jacco.

The sun was out, and the Heerman’s Gull glowed in the light. Much better than the first time I saw it this year.

We stopped to watch White ibises (aka “long-gilled lawn chickens”). Then after lunch, we met Susan and tried to call Roger without luck. Then we headed off to Merritt Island for a couple of hours.

A Tricolored Heron in the water with a male Blue-winged Teal was nice.

But watching a Reddish Egret fishing was a highlight.
More tomorrow…
