By the end of next week we will be visiting friends in Florida and seeing a lot of interesting birds, plants and more. All of the drawing today were done in the 1990s and were beirds seen in Washtenaw County, Michigan.

Whenever a Cattle Egret shows up in the county or nearby there is always a lot of excitement. Next week we should be seeing these every day.

These cute little waterbirds are always fun to find. While not uncommon in the county, they can be abundant in Florida.

Shorebirds are a challenge because of the complex series of molts in all age classes. Adult Dunlin are always an easy identification.

I’ve been fortunate enough to see ibises in both Washtenaw County as well as Monroe and nearby Essex County, Ontario. Always single birds, unlike in Florida where we will be many on most days.
