Sault Ste. Marie to Ann Arbor, a busy day

As was typical, our day started with sunrise and breakfast.

Penny’s Kitchen is a great place to eat, and I love their sense of humor.

Heading south towards Rudyard in search of White-winged Crossbills we stopped at feeders. This one had Hairy and Pileated Woodpeckers.

Thanks to a text from somebody that we helped to find birds we were able to locate a flock of over 20 White-winged Crossbills.

Heading to Mackinaw City we were slowed down at the Mackinac Bridge by an accident that had occurred. We figured that stopping for the crossbills and to get fish in Moran kept us off the bridge when this happened.

Thanks to a tip from a friend we stopped to search Mackinaw City for Bohemian Waxwings. While this might not look like great habitat – it was.

We found four Bohemian Waxwings feeding in crab apples with Pine Grosbeaks.

After leaving Mackinaw City it was I-75 to US-23 and back to Ann Arbor for sunset.

More later…
