The hectic journey to Ann Arbor

Following Christmas, it was time to get packed and ship what didn’t fit in our suitcases back to Ann Arbor. I’m not sure if Sheldon and Leonard wanted to be shipped with our package since I was the one that was feeding them at Alexis’.

The big surprise was snow on the morning of the 26th. I wasn’t worried about driving, but the folks in this area were a bit of a concern.

Time for the final braids from Grandma.

And going outside to say goodbye before we headed off to Seattle where we were catching our flight.

The drive to Seattle was pretty, but people in Oregon weren’t the best driving in the snow. We saw numerous cars that had spun-off into ditches and several accidents. The snow changed to glare-ice as we entered Washington. Traffic was traveling at a reasonable speed, which meant that our four and a half hour trip took closer to eight hours.

But we did stop to eat in Kalama, Washington.

Our Mexican lunch was enough to feed us dinner that night at our motel near the Seattle airport.

We dropped our car off and caught a Lyft to the motel.

Our Delta flight home has close to two dozen empty seats, including one in our aisle. Alexis had provided us with KN95 masks for the trip home which made us feel better about being on a plane with 120 strangers. The flight was pretty straight forward and we arrived home after a month in Oregon.

Yes, we had kale from the garden with dinner.

More tomorrow…
