When I was in Panama in 2019 I saw a great number of insects, some of which I could identify. Others, like the above beetle is still waiting for identification.

The above weevil was not only attractive, but also fairly large for a weevil.

The above hieroglyphic moth was a species that I have looked for in the southern US, Mexico and Costa Rica without luck. On this trip I was able to see both the moth and the caterpillar.

Another interesting golden-metallic green beetle.

Some days we saw many small Hemipterans (true bugs), other days we saw few, if any.

Another beetle waiting for identification.

An interesting wasp nest that I stayed away from.

A bullet ant. Apparently the bite hurts like being shot by a bullet.

A Pepsis wasp. These are called Tarantula hawks/killers.

This emerald cicada was one on many that we saw during July, 2019.

A beetle and an ant – prey and predator. The ant might be a small bullet ant, which are active predators on other small insects.
More tomorrow…
