The Friday art challenge and the latest on Covid

The art challenge for today is “forest.” I managed to find a few things that I think qualify for this.

All of the above watercolor sketches were done at Emily Lake at the base of the Keewenaw Peninsula in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We were camping near the lake for a few days while Alexis was at a summer camp nearby.

Before I retired, perhaps 2017, I had a student assistant who wanted help drawing trees. That got me to doing some little sketches of western conifers. We usually see quite a variety of these (many more that the six shown) when we visit Alexis in Oregon.

Now on to the pandemic –

The above note was recently published regarding how effective the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are. Having received the Moderna vaccine I was pleasantly surprised at this.

There was an interesting article in the Mortality & Morbidity Weekly Report published by the CDC. This covered the effectiveness of vaccines in the 12-18 year-old group. The vaccine is extremely effective in those groups.

More on the pandemic later.

The art challenge for tomorrow is “in the skies,” which will be quite exciting.

More tomorrow…
