Art challenge – wiggly? No! Women.

After intense periods of illustrating, which is completely different from drawing, I would take a figure drawing class. Typically, the models for these classes were women, not like the wild ginger which was part of the large project that lead to this. One of those classes got me to drawing women, which is the rest of this post. But, shortly after the class began the instructor came to me, looking at my work she told me that I needed to get larger newsprint and “draw big” for getting about the minutia of an illustration. After class I’d continue to draw at home and these were the result.

“Dreams” based on a poster that I had seen
“Reclined” based on a statue
“Two muses” based on a classical sculpture
“Back” based on a sculpture by Rodin.

Turning images into sketches is a fun process. Now back to looking through the pile of journals, sketch books and more. The art challenge for tomorrow is under-appreciated.
