A blast from the past

I used to teach adult ed courses wherever I was able to between the time I ran my own Natural History tour company and when I started writing for the Ann Arbor News and teaching at Eastern Michigan University.

One of the courses that I taught was entitled “A short course on eagles.” I loved teaching, and still do, and I also loved creating my own course material and drawing. The above illustration of five Bald Eagle plumages (first year at the bottom, fifth year at the top) was from the booklet that I put together for the course.

The courses were a great place to allow me to draw and teach, a combination that I loved.

I am now done teaching, but still spend a little time drawing. This spring I worked on drawing wildflowers and will keep working on that project, as well as others.

More tomorrow.
